Cultural Traits: Jungle

Making their home amongst the lush greenery of the jungle, a tabaxi family is amidst the day's work. A young boy helps his father pick delicate flowers that will be used for salves. Nearby an older sibling shows their sister how to bandage a wound with woven cloth. Meanwhile, another parent prepares tubers and tropical fruits for their next meal.   The traits you gain from growing up in a jungle environment are:
  • Your Intelligence or Wisdom increases by one.
  • You gain proficiency with the herbalism kit.
  • You gain proficiency in Survival.
  • You have resistance to poison damage and have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
Growing up in the jungle means that you know how to survive amongst the dangerous flora. You often have to differentiate which plants are safe for consumption and which are poisonous. As a result, your Wisdom or Intelligence score increases by one. Moreover, your survival instincts mean that you have proficiency in the Survival skill. Whether you live in a rural settlement amongst the plants or in a city surrounded by nature, you have picked up the necessary skills to survive in this environment.   Being near the jungle means that you have experience with the various types of plants that grow in the region. Many of these plants have medicinal properties, so you know which plants can be used for healing and therefore have proficiency with the herbalism kit. You have also been no stranger to the poisonous variety and have built up your resistance to them, making you harder to poison.
