Sanguine Sunrise #19: The Cruelty of Chains

General Summary

Rastra and Luthrin speak about their time in Aldreivetur as they drag their friends to safety. As they arrive, Luthrin and Cain have a conversation with Luthrin threatening torture upon the man. Then, they wait as everyone sleeps. Eventually, Luthrin and Rastra see duergar driving slaves away. Rather than wait for the rest of the group, the two strike out and manage to surprise the duergar and slay them. Amid the fight, Luthrin vomits out blood bats and utilizes them in the slaying of the duergar enemies.
After this, they bring Skek out to find his family, but Skek's stupefication has made that difficult. However, one of the flying creatures that kept appearing earlier flies around Skek and turns into dust as he regains his intelligence. Due to this sacrifice, Skek met his father, Onur. 
Onur informed Skek that his mother had died to the duergar. Skek asks his father to come with him to kill the rest of the duergar, but Onur argues that it is not enough to simply destroy hatred. One must also protect the innocent. As such, he accepts following his son, but he asks him not to focus on destroying people when there are still lives to be saved instead.
Sleep then overtakes much of the group and they awaken to a celebration from the ex-prisoners. This goes well and Rastra tells the group that she will be taking these people to find a new home. She asks Azada to come with her, but Azada says she needs to stay with the others for now to find what she is searching for.
Soon, the party learns that the trap door leads to tunnels from which the duergar invaded the village many years before. when learning this, Ramoire also finds a potion near the trap door.
Finally, Luthrin decides to end his torture of having Cain with him. He takes Cain into the standing tool shed as Azada asks Luthrin to stop and asks Cain to just answer, but neither listen. Cain says that the pain will never end for them and he calls out Azada for being a royal who would never understand the plights of these common people. It is then revealed that Cain abused Luthrin in terrible physical ways. Azada then said a final sorry to Cain as she walked out of the room, and left the chained commoners together.
During their time together, Luthrin managed to coax out information about the group known as the Crimson Jewels, a jeweler's guild who are secretly a religious group with access to planar travel. It is said that their archon is making moves to perform a long forgotten ritual, and they operate all throughout the empire.
