Sanguine Sunrise #26: Seas of Pettiness

General Summary

Our story opens up with Ramori bombarding the location of the First Archon with many attacks that are an annoyance but non-life threatening to any individuals. Then, seeing as this was more of a risk than reward situation, Ramori attempted to escape the area, but before she returned to Secomber, she rested beneath a tree. Sadly, she was found and returned peacefully with the group back to the First Archon.   Meanwhile, the First Archon spoke to Gratorr about what needed to happen for everyone involved. At this point, Ramori arrives and the Archon orders her placed in manacles despite her deepest wishes against it. Then, a cultist returns with a second cart as the first was destroyed in Ramori's bombardment, and the group heads off to Secomber where they reach the river and enter aboard a ship known as The Vitality.   Hijinks of attempted escape ensue, but eventually everyone rests. At this point, the two wizards Ramori and Gratorr are placed in a room together, Coren and Luthrin in another, and Arborea on her own. First, the First Archon visits Gratorr and Ramori as the latter has interested him with her attacks and the former with possible conversation. Ramori attempts to escape, but she is stopped by the ships guards and placed in another room. The First Archon attempts to ask Gratorr about the other members of the party, but he only lies about them. However, The First Archon does learn that Gratorr has a past as a sailor who lost his wife and best friend to the sea.   Eventually, the First Archon makes his way to Coren and Luthrin's room and leaves soon after. He then returns and brings Luthrin to his cabin to speak to him. He continues to speak about how Blood brings life and the Great Jewel Haemnathuun provides that blood. He also argues that he does not cause any more damage than is necessary for anything, and he will offer more information as the journey continues, but as he attempts to rebind Luthrin, Luthrin spits out blood bats and intimidates the First Archon by claiming he was the Chosen of the god of the Crimson Jewels.   Though not showing any obvious signs of fright, the First Archon seems to be open to some sort of control for Luthrin. Thus he lets Luthrin free his friends and have a conversation with all of the Archon's officers present. This meeting begins, but soon, everyone hears a thunderous voice screaming, "help!" Looking out the window, a figure was swimming towards the ship.   Ramori rushed out to save the figure whilst sailors lowered a rowboat to collect them. This figure, named K'urtkheva Upahaar Hadia III Jr, or Kurt for short, told a tale of a loxodon led ship known as the Horizon which was captained by an Arel. It went into a fog where a monster was within. The ship eventually sank, but Arel told Kurt to tell Captain Dejal she loves him. This shakes Gratorr Dejal to the core as this is the tale of how his wife and bestfriend died over 100 years earlier.   Despite this new mystery, the current situation still had to be solved. Arborea gives her piece on the Crimson Jewels, claiming that though they give their members wealth and the life they want, they also take that life from those they deem unworthy to keep the cogs turning. She also gives a description of the organization of the Jewels. The First Archon retorts by saying once again, that they are only doing what is necessary to bring the best lives for the world. He calls out Luthrin's killing sprees as damage for lesser means than literally saving the world in his eyes. Then, he claims that the blade and the chain are necessary for finishing something that Haemnathuun started and killing an evil that should have been gone at the dawn of time.   However, Ramori, outraged by her binding despite all attempts at peace charges the First Archon and claims that no matter what, she will eventually tear him limb from limb for what he did. Gratorr orders him to gather their gear as he claims he is now captain of the vessel. In a petty move, the First Archon tells the crew of this arrangement, gives the party their gear, and then takes all of his officers and barricades himself in the Hold of the ship to leave the party with an inexperienced crew to guide this ship from the open sea to somewhere else.
