The Strange Alliance Stands Against Dreus

"An odd grouping to be sure, but it's our best chance," the decaying corpse of Sir Frederic, the Hellrider's ancient commander from a time long past. Standing in the General's tent is Sir Frederic, Knight Paladin David, the son of one of the only survivors of Fort Morninglord and an unkown Elven man, Peras, a male halfling necromancer, and Lethia, a female eladrin who is leading her cult of the Archfey into this fight.   "We have to go into the Fort and get the blade. Its the only way," pleads Lethia. Her patron has imparted her with the knowledge of what the Feyblade can do to those who follow Dreus. She knows that the blade must be found if they have any chance to defeat the hordes of creatures that will pour through the world.   "No. We must stay here and defend. The Lord's Alliance has fallen. I have risen the dead from the North. My contact with the Olympians ended once they entered the wards of the fort, and they have yet to contact me again. We must assume it's a lost cause to go down there," the small but ever creepy halfling pipes up from his side of the table.   "He is right. They never came back," replies the half-elven man of other worldly beauty to the rest of the table. "We must hold Elturguard. Triel is our Northernmost settlement, so I'll station more Companions there to hold our borders."   "My assistant will accompany them," promises the necromancer. "That way they can be used twice, y'know?"   "Shut your impudent mouth, you foul creature," retorts David. "If Kreeg was still alive, we would not have to deal with your ramblings as he would surely have come up with a better plan."   "Stop fighting," interposes Roderic. "My Hellriders will provide cavalry, and her faerie creatures will support us. Elturel and all of Elturguard will hold."   A man in full plate armor and the symbol of Elturguard, a man dressed in leather armor of similar make and insignia, and a younger eladrin enter the tent.   "The soldiers are restless," the Eladrin informs the council.   "Thank you," Lethia and Knight Paladin David respond simultaneously.   "Off we go then," says the halfling as the generals all leave the tent.

The Conflict

Prelude

The hordes of Dreus have entered the world after the ritual was completed. Elturguard was prewarned by the Olympians of the coming of this event. However, High Observer Kreeg was murdered by a yuanti assassin sent by the Titans due to his rather open policy on how he worked with adventurers after they help a few of his people. Sir Roderic, leader of the Hellriders in Elturel, an advanced cavalry unit that patrols the empire, Knight Paladin David, the leader of the Companions, a knightly order of paladins, a cult of the archfey, and a necromancer by the name of Peras and his undead hoards gather to stop Dreus from spreading into Elturguard.

Deployment

Dreus sends his Titans along with his spawn to take the Trade Road. The Companions form a defensive checkpoint on the road before reaching the city of Triel. The Companions numbers are strengthened by undead and other agents who work for Peras. Hellriders hide in the woods, striking quickly into the enemy forces whenever they can before retreating back into the woods. If the enemy follows, the forest itself comes alive and kills them.

Battlefield

Northern Elturguard.

Conditions

Elturguard must hold at least Elturel by the end of the conflict, or it would be broken and taken by Dreus.

The Engagement

Sporadic engagements where Dreus’ forces were picked off little by little before being fought in a head on assault with the holy and the undead.

Outcome

Elturguard lost Triel. Dreus gained it.

Aftermath

Elturguard suffered from a lowered population. Dreus' army became more strategic and unified. Lethia's death leaves an opening of power of the cult.
