Whitelight Crystals

Whitelight crystals are a miraculous substance that develops in rare areas across the planar realms. Capable of ambiently storing mana and it's ease of use in drawing out the mana has led to whitelight becoming an essential part of the Imperium. The discovery of method to grow whitelight in exponential amounts led to the sudden rise in power of the Imperium, and into it's eventual rise as a planar superpower. 
Whitelight crystals can be used in many different applications big or small. From small artifacts and magical tools to large scale rituals and creations. They continue to be as useful whether or not the are used as small or massive size, the amount of energy it can hold is constant. So small whitelight crystals dot simpler and increasingly common everyday items closer to the Imperial center. Larger whitelight cores are used to power planar ships and massive ones can be used in large scale rituals that can affect massive areas or power impressive miracles.

The unique properties of the crystals is that they have an passive connection with local flows of creational energy. They have the capacity to ambiently collect and store mana and creational energy within itself. It is considered to be a higher esoteric tier substance,  having a natural connection with the flows of creational energy in a multiversal scope.

History & Usage

History

Whitelight crystals are rare across the planes, only propagating in areas with particularly high levels of pure creational energy. Most planes do no have any significant areas of crystalline growths and those that do usually have only a small handful of areas with high enough purity to develop the crystals. The world of Aei is naturally high in creational energies and whitelight crystal use had a long history upon the world. The Imperium would develop a series of technological improvements and discoveries in the use and eventual artificial propagation of Whitelight crystals.

Refinement

After undergoing intense heat and a series of mana draining procedures it is possible to render the crystalline structure into a molten liquid state. This allows for shaping, sculpting, and selecting specific sizes and structures of the crystals when they go into use. Certain transmutative rituals and magics can be done to allow for increased purity and to manipulate the crystalline matrix makeup. Simple purification techniques are usual undergone in most Imperial developments, but most do not undergo all purification potential as many methods are expensive and costly.
Introducing molten whitelight to a vacuum environment and sudden introduction of mana can be used to sublimate into a gaseous state. This introduces sudden pressure and rapid expansion to the gas. This alongside is extremely dangerous and near instant death to individuals unlucky enough to touch the substance leads to gaesous whitelight to be considered a risky and dangerous substance to interact with. It's necessary in the growth of artificial whitelight and the further refinement into Creational Ink.
It is considered an Imperial secret the exact method in which to refine whitelight into creational ink. It is known series of unique techniques needed to be done on gaseous and crystalline state whitelight that refines itself to it's greatest state.

Whitelight crystals are used across the Imperial to power tools, devices, golems, ships, and anywhere it is necessary. Large scale whitelight production has to lead to a technological growth on all Imperial worlds as it can be used to create marvels of all kinds. Whitelight crystals are one of the backbones of Imperial rule and it's great knowledge of it's use is what has catapulted the planar realms of the Imperium to a new age.

Hazards

Any level of refinement past the natural and stable state of crystal carries dangerous properties. Molten whitelight can cause severe burns if interacted with and staying in open proximity of it has been learned to cause an increase in diseases and health defects later in life. After this was discovered largescale reforms led to better protections in all whitelight production.
Any touch of whitelight in its gaseous state leads to rapid deformation and cancerous growths in the victim. Within seconds to minutes the unfortunate creature that came into contact with it will perish full from scale organ shutdown. Full care must be put into all safeguards surrounding gaseous whitelight as in an open environment it can rapidly spread out and can spread a surprising distance.
