Lorestone

Lorestone, an almost shiningly white stone minded in parts of Palador, ins considered to be a very valuable and almost sacred stone to the High Dwarves that live there. Used in many of their buildings for both its durability and its beauty, lorestone makes up much of their palaces, temples, and other places of honor.   Amongst the people of the capital it is particularly revered, where it makes up both the palace and the grand temple of Avion and Aetheos. Much care is taken to keep the stones of these buildings pristine, and there are entire government employed workers whose job it is to care for, clean, and maintain the sacred stonework of these places.   Even in the rest of Palador, the use of lorestone is taken with great care. While it isn't quite as revered in some places as the capital, it still isn't permitted to be used for just any construction. Anything temporary in nature, other likely to be damaged or otherwise marred, isn't allowed to use the stone in its construction, and anything that does use it is to be cared for.   The quarrying and transport of the stone is a well regulated process, and sale of it to those outside of Palador is entirely forbidden. Only religious groups closely affiliated with the temples of Palador are allowed any at all, and even those are only allowed small amount under strict requirements.   While the exact origins of the stone's reverence is unknown, as is the story behind its discovery, the dwarves generally associate the stone with their gods and with order, so it is believed it was originally seen as some kind of divine gift of beauty to the gods' loyal followers. Whatever the case, it certainly holds a special place of honor in their society that not many other materials can match in any of the other many cultures in the Riftgrounds.
