Soul Pendant

While many who hear the name of these magical items think they must bear powerful effects, in truth they are one of the more mundane magical items produced in the Riftgrounds. Created by the arcane elves, soul pendants aer small enchanted stones worn on a string or chain around one's neck, that are bonded to the stone worn by someone they care about. So long as both pendants are worn by the person they're bonded to, the stones pulse very faintly with the heartbeat of the bearer of the other.   They were designed as a comfort to those who had to travel away from loved ones, and to provide peace of mind to worried parents or spouses. For the most part this effect has been achieved well, though as they pulse stops both if either person removed the necklace, or at death, they have caused a few scares at time as well.
The love of my life in an adventurer, so I'm always worried about him. Thought about going with him several times, but it just isn't the life for me. We got these soul pendants, thought it was the best choice we ever made, until it stopped beating one day. Never been more scared in my life. Turns out he was just in an antimagic field.
— Calida, Naarian citizen
While soul pendants are magic, the arcane elves have found ways to imbue items with such lower-level doses of magic relatively cheap and efficiently. While they still run somewhat higher than typical mundane looking jewelry, this allows them to be sold cheaply enough to be fairly commonplace.

Raw materials & Components
The pendants themselves are made out of moonstone, a form of stone found on and near Naarius that is particularly conducive to magical enchantments. While it is rarer than standard stones, the ease of access to it that the arcane elves have makes it a fairly inexpensive material.
