Ebby Noether
Ebby (Ebhophe Tatakahan) Noether is a half-elf wizard currently serving as a professor at the Gwenllian Academy of Arts and Magic.
Childhood
Ebby's father was Woyano of the Dine Republic1. Woyano was keenly interested in dragons and draconic species. He wrote several books that have become standard reverences for academics continent wide. He initally met Vasati Noether, Ebby's mother, while exploring the southern coastal range nearest to the Dine Republic. she was also facinated by dragons, but had a less conservation-oriented perspective. At first they were rivals, but Woyano's passion and integrity won Vasati's heart and mind. She became his assistant, keeping them both safe in hazardous situations. They fell in love, living and working together for many years. Ebby was born late in Woyano's life. He passed away when she was about 10 years old. Vasati never really got over her grief, and after seeing Ebby grow to maturity, answered the Call West, leaving her daughter to find her own path.
Professional Career
Prior to becoming an academic, Ebby spent many years adventuring in mountainous areas, including the ryopytavs, aiding those studying the lairs of dragons. She retired from adventuring after a particularrily hairraising encounter with a mature White Dragon. After many months of healing and rehabilitation, Ebby entered the university to formally study dragon lore, but quickly developed a facination with arcano-mathematics.
She received her PhD from a university in the southern city of Oraibi1
Several years ago, she was recruited by St Gwen's to join the faculty. She was a prime candidate to fill a new chair of arcane mathematics, having established credientials in practical field research as well as mathematics.

Author's Notes
Dr Ebby Noether is loosely based on the IRL mathematician Amalle Emmy Noether (1882-1935). According to Wikipedia, "She was described by Pavel Alexandrov, Albert Einstein, Jean Dieudonné, Hermann Weyl and Norbert Wiener as the most important woman in the history of mathematics. ...Her work on differential invariants in the calculus of variations, Noether's theorem, has been called 'one of the most important mathematical theorems ever proved in guiding the development of modern physics'." From the little I have read about her, I think she would be tickled to be the basis for this fictional character in a high fantasy world.
