Causes

Like other diseases and conditions, full-belly is thought to be a spirit that enters and inhabit a person in a state that the spirit prefers. Full-belly is supposedly attracted to girls and women who consume lump-nuts.

Prevention

Many women do not want more babies after they have attained adulthood.  If a woman senses she has full-belly soon enough and does not want it, she can ask Spirit-talker for a particular potion that will make her a little sick.  The full-belly spirit will think that the woman is dying, and leave her.

Cultural Reception

Full-belly is the mechanism whereby girls become recognized as adults. As such, it is highly desired. After she begins menstruation, a girl is given her first lump-nut to eat in a coming-of-age ceremony.  Beyond that, many girls have their own superstitious rituals intended to encourage full-belly.
