Kyr's Hand

Public socioanthropological record
Property of the Royal Atheneum of Hövnís, Eörpe

The cult of Kyr's Hand preaches the inevitable consumption of the universe by the Agglamus, described in their mythos as an otherworldly entity consisting of the collected, united consciousnesses of uncountable cosmoses.   According to them, the presence of the marrowblight heralds its imminent arrival and was sent to prepare all life in this universe to join the collective consciousness. For this reason, a lot of the cult's activities are focused on convincing others to not fear the marrowblight nor the life it bears - rather, they are convinced one should seek to preemptively join it in order to ensure one's continuation within the collective consciousness.

Etmyology & Definition

The name is derived from their founder, Ashton Kyr, and simply point them as followers of Kyr's teachings and beliefs.   That the otherworldly entity their belief system is centered around is named the same as the slime mold agglamus is likely not a coincidence. The findings that connected the agglamus and sketh as a lifeforms created from the same source, the marrowblight, is rather recent. The agglamus has been a major threat ever since the invention of rifting technology due to its aggressive nature and drive to consume living matter to increase its own mass, and still today it remains difficult to combat and root out once infecting a location.

History

Recent Events

The cult is primarily active on a number of worlds in The Wheel but has seen recent spread into The Rin Sovereignty and The United Worlds.

Ventures & Activities

The cult is considered mostly harmless, mostly engaging in public preaching and proselytizing. While the members engaged in the cult appear very ferverent about spreading their beliefs, the slow growth of their numbers suggest that few are convinced by their words.   The part of the group active within the United Worlds and Rin Sovereignty is currently under some scrutiny after some recent rumors about plans of deliberately causing an agglamus or skethal infestation.

I like that they're not being very successful. Though what they are saying is rather terrifying. XD

It was a fun, spur-of-the-moment article. xD I imagine most would see them as a kooky doomsday cult, but them themselves find their beliefs highly believable as the sketh (a marrowblight-base lifeform) already operate in hiveminds. :)

Apocalypse cults are always fun and finding a hook that attracts followers is a serious mission! I like that there is a slime mold that is the foreteller of doom impending!

They are! This article was a fun write. The agglamus is a known, serious spacefaring danger in Rosepetal, so it felt like it'd be interesting to tie into this with some people having a radically different view on it. :)

I'm sure that these guys mean no harm and just have an innocent fascination with an all-consuming slime mold! Nice article!

Thank you! And absolutely, the United Worlds' and Rin Sovereignty's worries are probably wholly unfounded. 0:)

That first paragraph gave me shivers. That's some existential horror right there. I certainly wouldn't enjoy hearing them preach. But maybe that is the problem, no one likes to listen to bad news! Great Article!

Thank you, glad to hear you liked it! And yeah, I think few listeners would interpret it as a positive future like how I imagine their core believers do.
