Bloodlines

You must understand one truth in the world, that there is the power inside the blood coursing through your veins. - unkown

Transmission & Vectors

It is passed down from generation to generation from descendent to descendent of the founder of the bloodline.

Causes

It often happens when an individual does something great or terrible to remember them by or have been exposed to certain abnormal anomalies that alter their physiology.

Symptoms

Types of Bloodlines

Cursed Bloodlines: bloodlines that are made to bring suffering over something committed by an ancestor or forced on them. This often involves their descendants to suffer. Conditions vary depending on how severe it can be from physical to mental and sometimes otherworldly. It may be mistaken for another bloodline type if the right conditions are met.   Examples: Vamperism, Lycanthropy
Arcane Bloodlines: Those who can use magic are often born with it as it is passed down from one or both of their parents. Depending on the strength of the magic that is inherited by them it could manifest at an early age or could skip them entirely, but will remain to pass it on to the next generation. Depending on the type of magic that is most common in that bloodline they are more likely to inherit it.   Examples: Alanres the Wise, Magnus the Accursed
Noble Bloodlines: Those who descendants of heroes and nobility. Though they may gain some reputation from being a descendant of these figures, some of them are granted boons or connections that are only available to them only. Such as certain attributes enhancements or connections to animals. They also may have access to items or enter places that will be accepted by them.   Examples: House Aurelius, Feron Kelmer
Hybrid Bloodlines: Bloodlines that are capable of altering the physical form of those born into it. These changes can vary from size to how strong they are to have a third eye. These mutations are often caused by the introduction of a foreign source exposed to an ancestor, such as magic, or cross-breeding with a different species.   Examples: Osmir, Half-Elf
Tainted Bloodlines: Often caused by having an ancestor who committed evil deeds to remember them by. Like Noble bloodlines, those who are born into will inherit certain things from them and often not for the best. These traits are often dark in nature and often lead to the corruption of their very being that will cause them to carry out evil deeds themselves if they give into temptation.   Examples: Gorun the Black, Cult of Desar
Divine Bloodlines: Being descended from a god or a holy individual is not an easy thing to hide. This does not have to be from certain individuals either, some entire cultures are to be descended from them as they inherit a certain aspect of their holy founder in each one of them. But those who descended from demi-gods or directly from gods tend to have more power than cultural ones as their power is divided equally amongst themselves.   Examples: Ferosians, Pansases

Prognosis

Merging of Bloodlines

When bloodlines merge they often lead to either disaster or become beneficial. Think of it as staking a pillar with many bloodlines mixing and become part of one being. Arcane cursed, and hybrid bloodlines easily mix with most bloodlines, but then there are those bloodlines that clash with one another such and divine, noble and tainted bloodlines. These bloodlines have certain properties that cause effects that will cause a conflict within the host. Divine bloodlines depending on the god will often try to eradicate curses, tainted or noble bloodlines as they do belong or just embrace them making them even more powerful. Tainted and noble bloodlines being opposites will often try to destroy each other for being exact opposites often with the host deciding on which one they wish to accept. But in some cases, the host can embrace both, but this is a rare event to transpire

Sequela

Depending on the bloodline, a descendant will either embrace it or fight against it as it always affects them mentally. Causing them to act differently as they are quite different from other people.

Epidemiology

There are only two ways to receive a bloodline, either by being born with it or through a foreign host often through infection or other means.

History

The world is run by those related to certain individuals that pass down their blood from generation to generation, it has always been like that since there have been kings to heroes. Along with tyrants and villains from time to time that come and go. Those who inherit the blood of these certain individuals have been given either a gift or a curse because of it. As with the blood that courses through their veins they are able they have granted certain abilities or access to certain places that would be restricted to others. But in doing so it has trapped them into that bloodline forever and inherits all the benefits and pitfalls that come with it. Bloodlines can rise and fall just like the sun out it does not mean that they will be forgotten anytime soon by the impact they have had on the world. Though it may be harder to truly sever a bloodline as it is difficult to find everyone who has it.

Cultural Reception

Those who know certain bloodlines of an individual can be a mixed bag depending on where you are in the world. As people will different cultural receptions on them and their descendants.

Interesting article! I don't want to offer advice unasked, so if you want some tips on formatting let me know ^^   Other than that I enjoy the aspsect of different bloodlines, though I am a little curious- what happens when two bloodlines mix? If one is both of a noble bloodline and an arcane bloodline? Does one erase the other, do the two mix? Is there a limit to how many bloodlines a single person can have? Would a divine and tainted bloodline be able to co-exist?
