Gilford's Hoard

Summary

A tale about on of the greatest treasure hoards that the world have ever seen, with enough of it to set a man for life for several lifetimes. But the problem is that it was left to the grave by the pirate Gilford. With only the brave and foolish who set out to find it. But many believe that the treasure is cursed with Gilford's ghost stopping who ever tries to go after it and sends them to a watery grave. Along with many great danger that he set along away to stop anyone from ever reaching it.

Historical Basis

The pirate in question, Gilford the Red was considered one of the most vicious pirates of his time as he reigned terror across the coast of the Vatian Empire and its neighboring islands from 369 CA - 387 CA. Along with pillaging hundreds of ships as well gaining a large amounts of riches from his years of piracy. But then he vanished suddenly without reason and now ever heard of him again. Some say he died at sea and others say he went mad due to his bloodlust. But they were more concerned about the treasure that was not recovered and no one knew if it existed. That was until one of his former crewmen was captured that is. He never confessed to what happened to Gilford or his crew, but he did talk about the treasure that he hoarded over the years and made everyone swear to secrecy about it. He said that the room was filled with everything that ever shined and it would even make a dragon's greed satisfied. He did not know where it was as the only Gilford knew where to find it. After he was executed, the news of the treasure inspired many would be adventurers to go out and search for it with many never being seen ever again. After a while few people cared about looking for and it just became a myth.
