Ranks in the Cluster

There is no Cluster organization for military forces. Each world or group of worlds may or may not form which ever of the branches that they might need.   Official names of ranks in the Cluster may vary by local custom and language, but the below is an attempt to standardize them to make it easier to discuss and draw parallels for meetings, committees, and commands require more precision to the rank/grade structure.

Not all services on all worlds use the warrant structure, but it is in place for those that do use it. Warrant ranks are a bridge between the enlisted ranks and commissioned officers. Warrants are not allowed to command, but they can lead or superintend, something enlisted are not able to do. Usually they are enlisted members with specific experience in a certain area or technical expertise that warrants higher pay and/or additional responsibility than can be given to an enlisted member, but not necessarily requiring a commissioned officer.   In addition, several planets have academies for some or all of the branches the world supports. Student attendees are called Cadet followed by a number referring to the year in school, first through fourth. Upon graduation, they are commissioned as officers in rank 1 in their respective, or in some cases, chosen service and proceed through their career.
