The Scarred Ancestral

A long time ago, The Nothing came, and it took almost everything. Not much is known from those times, except the legend that has been passed down from it. According to Isidore Walsh, the four heroes stood against The Nothing as giants, as mountains, not allowing it to move forward, to keep consuming, or erasing.  

People really did think that it was all over, that The Nothing would never come back. Mr. Magnus thought he, I remember him telling me that when this happens again, we should be ready. He kept talking about forming the next generation of soldiers, that there was no time to waste and what-not, but all I kept thinking was why? We're safe now.

In order to stop The Nothing when it would inevitably came back, thought Magnus, there must be places that would teach our future generations to act, and to stand strong against it; so taking from the rest of the kingdoms, as if taxed, each hero set up their own Academy with different teaching philosophies, except one.   Culture that was once destroyed began to flourish once more, warped by these institutions, the last bastion of defense against the inevitable second coming of the end, of The Nothing.
