The Dawn War

Sometimes you've heard a particularly "fire and brimstone" styled priest bring up something known as The Dawn War, but they didn't go into detail about it in the midst of their proselytizing. You know that there might have been a war with the gods or among the gods or against the gods, exactly what they said about it changed based on the message they were trying to convince you of. They warned against straying from the Prime Deities teachings or we would bring another Dawn War on the world.

The event known as The Dawn War is built of legend and speculation. We know there was a cataclysmic event several millenia ago because messengers of the gods told us as much, but the world during and before the war is a mystery we have only gathered a handful of pieces of. Celestial beings have told us that there was a war among the gods for control and to claim dominion over the world. We were told that our ancestors joined the gods in this struggle and that in the end The Prime Deities triumphed. The stakes and motives of each god could only be guessed at, along with what might have been lost in the conflict. It was deemed too dangerous to speak of what occurred as mortals are not trusted with this information. The Prime Deities bound themselves, The Dark Nine, and each of their servants who knew the events of that time to never communicate it. The gods decided that the world after the war required a clean start if it was to thrive and not repeat the mistakes of the past.
