G Fortification Implant
A G fortification implant - also known as a G-fort, G-web, or G4I - is a system of cybernetic implants designed to augment the human circulatory and nervous systems to withstand higher accelerations. A spacer lucky enough to recieve a full G-fort treatment is incredibly difficult to knock out, whether from tight maneuvers, sustained thrust, or blunt force impacts.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The G-fort system's most prominent features include reinforcements and expansions of the circulatory system, as well as a network of artificial support tissue (hence the 'G-web' moniker) that helps to better suspend the central nervous system and certain vital organs within the body against heavy loads. Some elements of the system are installed with minimally invasive laproscopic procedures, but others require working in such sensitive places and tight confines (i.e. brain tissue) that they are instead constructed in-situ by medical nanites. The production, implementation, and control of these nanites - which are tightly regulated due to their potential use as programmable pathogens - is the source of most of a G fortification implant's costliness.
The increased blood volume provided by the treatment helps to prevent blackout during extreme maneuvers, as more blood can be forced up from the lower limbs in combination with the usual physical training that pilots undergo. The vascular reinforcements greatly reduce the risk of petechia and aneurism from the same. These features of the G-fort system provide lifelong benefits beyond being space flight applications; a spacer equipped with a G-fort can expect to live free from many of the common vascular ailments that afflict others in the course of achieving old age, though maintaining a proper diet and exercise regimen to reduce the risk of infarctions remains advisable.
Structural enhancements, particularly in the brain and around the heart, are designed to help these vital organs remain in place when subjected to serious impacts without being damaged from being jostled about or from collission with other body structures (i.e. the skull). These take the form of Musculoskeletal reinforcements are generally considered a different class of cybernetic augmentation and are not considered a necessary addition to G-fort systems; if a maneuver would pulverize a person's skeleton, it would probably not be survivable even if the brain were suffused with microscopic support structures.
Significance
For spacers, the G fortification implant and the endogenous grav serum gland represent the duality of life in micro-gravity. While the G-fort can help spacers get where they need to go and provides potentially life-extending medical benefits, sustained use of grav serum preserves spacers in the boredom between burns and can exact a terrible cost in the form of organ damage if not done with proper judiciousness. As the phrase goes, "the cyber-gods giveth, and the cyber-gods taketh away."

Rarity
Unlike many implants found among the technology- and fashion-conscious members of the Cobalt Protectorate, G fortification implants are rather uncommon in the civilian sectory. Knight-Airmen and Knight-Espatiers with the Cobalt Knights constitute the majority of recipients, as these individuals are the most likely to encounter the common use cases of this sort of extensive - not to mention expensive - cybernetic augmentation.
