Tengeren

Sailing on the power of the winter wind

A halora may fly thirty miles in half a day. A Tengeren sails hundreds of miles in a day. If only it was not confined to the waters...
— Colonel, explaining logistics
The Tengeren, more commonly known as a boat or ship by non-halorin, are sail-equipped vessels that sail on water. The development of this vehicle is mainly due to the Brown Halora being a poor flyer: they cannot fly hundreds of miles in a single day.   Tengeren, as a specific word, can also refer to the most primitive halorin sailing device: the canoe. These canoes are sail-equipped, and can sail much faster and longer than the average halorin's flight. As such, they were used for logistics in the Baiqiang Union.

Propulsion

We harness the power of the winter wind! Kalia rules the seas!
Baiqiang Union sailor
The ship is generally propelled by two things: oars, or manpower, and sails. Sails, unfortunately, can only be used when the wind is favorable, limiting the watercraft to a five knot top speed without the help of the wind. It was not until the classical era that the Brown Halora discovered how to sail against the wind.
