A timeline of Dahang Island's history following the fall of the Ironfoot Empire. A document describing the major powers can be found here.
The Regents of Ironfoot struggle to hold the core sectors of Ironfoot together against the revolts of treacherous generals in the west. The beginning of this era is marked by historians as the "End of the Ironfoot Empire".
The western Kingdom of Yelowan declares independence from the now-shattered Guild-Alliance Regicide and the rapidly failing Ironfoot Empire: it seizes Dahang Island from the Grand Duchy of Meringia.
The Grand Duchy of Meringia is able to retake Dahang island with the help of the local citizens. It declares itself as an autonomous ally of Ironfoot, and seizes two islands of Yelowan to the east, connecting itself to the central regions.
An allied Kingdom of Glamin and Kingdom of Yelowan force retake the strategically important Dahang Island, effectively cutting the Grand Duchy of Meringia in two. In a series of brutal island battles, they conquer the eastern half of Meringia.
An insurgency, the Meringian People's Liberation Front, begins in Dahang island and former Grand Duchy of Meringia territories. This is combated by allied Yelowani militias (Phoenix People's Front) and coalition armies (Scarlet Cypress Alliance).
As an upstart democracy, the Mitrand's powerful land army marches into Bensloh, sacking it into a ruin and ending the last remnants of the Regents of Ironfoot. The Empire of Ironfoot is officially no more. Imperial allies such as Ameral and the Grand Duchy of Meringia are in crisis.
The Rekonkeron, or the reconquest, is a group of intermittent military campaigns by the Grand Duchy of Meringia to reestablish control over its former territories after the Scarlet Cypress Campaign. Due to political and civil unrest in the Kingdom of Glamin leading to a revolution, they are able to beat back the Kingdom of Yelowan and retake several territories.
The cities of the Kingdom of Glamin rise in revolt against the newly-crowned King of Glamin, who eventually flees to the mainland continent Valmar after his defeat in the battle of Southport. This weakens and eventually destroys the Scarlet Cypress Alliance between the Kingdom of Yelowan and Glamin, allowing Meringia to expand and eventually retake much of its lost territories.
In the east, the Republic of Mitrand reigns dominant, with a massive land army and a government by the people. In the west, the Grand Duchy of Meringia continues to expand its influence, attempting to brand itself as a government still loyal to the traits the fallen Ironfoot Empire espoused.
The Rekonseron, or reconstruction, is a period of relative peace in the west due to the interlocking Rekonseron Treaties between the Grand Duchy of Meringia, Kingdom of Glamin, and Kingdom of Yelowan. This temporary truce mainly owed its existence to a massive invasion mustered by the former King of Glamin from the mainland, as the three nations set aside their differences to face the common threat.
The Kingdom of Glamin, now a de facto plutocracy, institutes reforms to boost commerce during the Rekonseron and slowly undermines relations between the Grand Duchy of Meringia and the Kingdom of Yelowan, turning them against each other and eventually ending the Rekonseron.
The Grand Duchy of Meringia launches campaigns against the Kingdom of Yelowan, beating them back despite bitter resistance. However, their advance is stalled north of Sanga Mori, and a bloody static phase ensues.
Insurgents branding themselves the "Grand Army of Yelowan" have long resided in Dahang Island and other Meringian Areas. After the end of the Rekonseron, covertly funded and armed by the Kingdom of Glamin, they rise against the Grand Duchy of Meringia.
The Grand Duchy of Meringia is by now crippled by corruption, and the Republic of Mitrand by demagogues and riots. Through this mess rise the Kingdom of Glamin with their merchant-princes and the Kingdom of Colren with their meritocracy.
The Kingdom of Glamin continues to grow in wealth and power as they trade with the Kingdom of Yelowan and the Grand Duchy of Meringia. Meringia and Yelowan continue to war in what has become a stagnant static war over Dahang.
The Kingdom of Yelowan and Grand Duchy of Meringia make several abortive attempts at peace through the forty-year-long Conference of Dahang, but are thwarted by Kingdom of Glamin intrigue. However, there are several truces, one of which even lasts fifteen years, that bring relative peace to the region.
After the Times of Broken Peace, the Kingdom of Glamin has a new conference at Glamin Tais, where the leaders (Kurion) of all the city-states decided on their next strategy. War had already ravaged the Kingdom of Yelowan and Grand Duchy of Meringia, and both now owed large debts to Glamin. In the interest of those debts being paid, Glamin decided to let the two kingdoms have peace, and thus, after the Conference of Glamin, there was one hundred years of peace.
The Kingdom of Colren continues to thrive, now with a strong emphasis on military strength rather than scientific advancement. While the Kingdom of Glamin has not fallen, the western portion sees a resurgence in the strength of the autocratic Kingdom of Yelowan.
After years of stagnant war and several short-lived truces, the Kingdom of Yelowan launches a surprise attack on Glamin, capturing large amounts of gold and weaponry. They then move north, slowly breaking through Grand Duchy of Meringia lines from the north. However, with the combined efforts of Meringia and Glamin, partisan warfare and coalition armies are able to slow and then stop Yelowan's advance.
A combined Kingdom of Glamin and Grand Duchy of Meringia force manages to balance the Kingdom of Yelowan horde, leading to another phase of stagnant war.
