Kobold

Kobolds are mostly found on and under the Northern and Southern Mountains, there's also a few settlements in the Great Desert.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A kobold was a reptilian humanoid, standing between 2' and 2'6" tall, weighing 35 to 45 pounds, with scaled skin between reddish brown and black in colour and burnt orange to red eyes. Their legs were sinewy and digitigrade. They had long, clawed fingers and a jaw like a crocodile. Small white or tan horns protruded from their head, and they had rat-like tails. They would often smell of wet dog and stagnant water. Kobolds liked to wear red or orange garments, which were usually ragged

Kobold

Ability Score Increase +2 Dex, +1 Con

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Trapmaking. You can add double your proficiency bonus to any ability check made to set or create a trap, replacing your normal proficiency bonus if it would apply to the check.
Distracting Tactics. When an ally attacks a creature you can see within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to give the attacker advantage on the attack roll. Once you use this ability, you can't use it again until you roll initiative at the start of combat or until you finish a short or long rest. The number of times you can use this ability per combat increases as you gain levels; twice at 6th level, three times at 11th level, and four times at 16th level.
Strength in Numbers. When you damage a creature with an attack, if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated, you can cause the attack to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Variant: Winged Kobold


For a Winged Kobold character, replace the Distracting Tactics and Strength in Numbers traits with the following traits.
Flight. You have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you can't be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Variant: Kobold Scale Sorcerer


For a Kobold Scale Sorcerer character, replace the Ability Score Increase, Distracting Tactics and Strength in Numbers traits with the following traits.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Scale Sorcery. You know the fire bolt cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the charm person spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the scorching ray spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Variant: Kobold Dragonshield


For a Kobold Dragonshield character, replace the Distracting Tactics trait with the following traits.
Dragon's Resistance. You have resistance to your choice of one damage type from the following; acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison.
Heart of the Dragon. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or paralyzed.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic.
