The Grand Palace

Alphamor 9 Outer Orbit Station

History

  • Grand Palace was originally the translator HQ - now owned and operates as a large-scale monk military training facility and the official palace homestead of the Emperor.
  • satellite station created by the translators guild as a first-stop outpost for new immigrants to the system
  • The satellite was originally a small rocky proto-moon but acted as a great outpost for the first station
  • upon the construction of the station the Translators discovered a strange orb that proved impenetrable - but reacted to large amounts of Ki energy within a person.
  • Once Alphamor became an independent system The satellite was converted into a palace and was gifted to the first emperor.
  • The Grand Palace acted as the official home and the central meeting place for the current ruler's councils. It would not be until the first Empress Elum Bengrul was overthrown, that the station would expand again.
  • The first emperor to employ Monks as a military force was Draconus Draconus I, who expanded even further upon the station in hopes of creating a Military Monk training ground.
  • The strange orb discovered by the translators, now called The Cantonium Sphere acted as a common way to test new-coming students' potential for Ki.
  • The base has been utilized by 3 ruling emperors of the Draconus line, Emperor Draconus I "The Green Monk", Degaba Draconus "The Sky King", and the Current ruling Draconus II
  • The Palace

The Palace is the centerpiece of the satellite station. Considered the official home of the Ruling emperor for the last 3 generations. The Palace Tower is only accessible through a private access elevator which branches into halls that connect to every main sector within the station. The tower was the original construction of the translators' guild and has been renovated multiple times since the first emperor was gifted the satellite. Elum Bengrul the First emperor became well known for his many alterations to the palace structure. Often building rooms and completely sealing them off, only to be discovered by later royalty. Draconus I also made many alterations to the station, besides his conversion to a monk military base the palace was further expanded to accommodate for his family as a permanent homestead.

    The Royal Military

A Group of elite monk soldiers are trained at The Grand Palace station every year. The monasteries are divided into nine separate specializations. To become a member of the royal Military one must complete the preliminary training, learning the basics of each teaching from each master. Then one must dedicate to a single specialty and continue until graduated. After this the monk will be allowed to join the Royal Military.

    The Nine Teachings

-Astral Archipelago - Detect Ki - The Eyes

    Current Master: Master Dothran Mazo

    Pillars and Training Grounds

School Pillars: A monk who follows the Way of the Astral Self believes their body is an illusion. They see their ki as a representation of their true form, an astral self. This astral self has the capacity to be a force of order or disorder, The Astral Archipelago chooses to find the balance of these two conflicting aspects. To find one's inner balance of self to that of the world is to find order within the sea of unknowable disorder. For a wave has a known shape but the ocean is forever changing. The first teaching all monks receive from the Archipelago is the ability to Detect Ki, by focusing ones energy into their sight.

Training Ground: The Astral Archipelago sits at the southwest corner of the Grand Palace. Its training ground consists of large stony shore islands dotted with East Asian-style meditation rooms and more extensive spar grounds. The islands are connected by bridges and are surrounded by a cosmic purple sea created using hardlight technology.

-Yote Arena - Center Gravity - The Hips

Current Master: Master Yumiri Arbor Quazato

    Pillars and Training Grounds

School Pillars: The Way of the Drunken Master teaches its students to move with the jerky, unpredictable movements of a drunkard. A drunken master sways, tottering on unsteady feet, to present what seems like an incompetent combatant who proves frustrating to engage. Focusing on movement and one's own relationship to gravity The Yote Arena are masters of contortion and physical balance. To sway with the turn of a planet is to understand your place within the universe. The first teaching all monks receive from the Yote is the ability to Center Gravity, by focusing ones energy into their hips.

Training Ground: The Yote Arena sits at the southeast edge of the Grand Palace. The training grounds consist of an open grass field with sparse trees. One large building styled like a traditional bar or saloon sits furthest from the main entrance. The fields are used for movement and combat training while the building is used to train the Yote's tolerance to alcohol and sedatives.

Training Ground: The Shadow Dojo stands at the lower South East of the Grand Palace. The Dojo consists of many interlocking alleyways filled with secret passages, underground tunnels, and complex traps. The central building is styled like an Indian Temple and acts as the main combat ground for this class of monk but is only accessible through the twisting maze of alleyways and secret passages. The dark passages are often used in stealth and dexterity training as many students will be tasked with hunting one through the complex facility.

The Shrine of Four Kinds is considered the most individualized class of training, Some members of this tradition dedicate themselves to a single element, but others weave the elements together. Often a dedicated student will receive tattoos corresponding to their element of expertise. As all was made from the elements all will eventually return to them. The first teaching all monks receive from the Four Kinds is the ability to Protection From Energy, by focusing ones energy into their Chest.
