Aarakocra

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aarakocra are bird-like humanoids with feathers and a beak. Their hands have three fingers and a thumb, and they also have a pair of feathered wings which extends from their arms. Their hands and feet are most often sharp enough to be used as weapons, and they tend to be lighter for the sake of flying.

Aarakocra are considered mature by three years of age. They typically do not live beyond 30 years.

Ecology and Habitats

In the Elemental Plane of Air, aarakocra live in a variety of places, often having their own airborne communities. Aarakocra who have settled in the Material Plane live in remote places, and form communities either by themselves or alongside other flying folk, or those who dwell in high places. These aeries are frequently established atop high mountains near portals to the Plane of Air, often alongside elemental druids or those who revere elemental powers.
