Episode 2: Polybius
As Jacob Cameron and Michaela Cameron arrive in Portland, they check into a small motel, still unsure about whyThe Wayfinder brought them to the city. Intrigued by their surroundings, they feel a sense of anticipation and curiosity.
Inside the motel room, Jacob and Michaela search for any leads that might explain their presence in Portland. They stumble upon a local newspaper advertising the the "Pixel Palace" arcade. The mention of the arcade catches their attention, piquing their curiosity and triggering their curiosity .
Their supernatural senses guide them towards the Pixel Palace, drawn by an unseen force. As they enter the bustling arcade, their eyes meet Maxine Bellamy, a mysterious woman observing the proceedings from a distance.
Maxine, an online blogger who investigates strange occurrences, approaches Jacob and Michaela cautiously. She reveals her research on the legends surrounding the game Polybius, sharing her findings that players who have engaged with the game eventually become ill and meet untimely ends.
Alarmed by Maxine's revelation, Jacob and Michaela thank her for her information and express their determination to investigate further. They decide to return to their motel room to gather their thoughts and formulate a plan.
Back at the motel, Irene, contacts , Samuel Kane an arcade collector who had sold Polybius to the Pixel Palace shortly after acquiring it at an auction. Irene shares the details of Jacob and Michaela's discoveries and asks Samuel for any additional information he may have about the game.
Samuel, surprised to learn of the malevolent nature of Polybius, reveals that he had never played the game himself. He had acquired it purely as a collector's item, unaware of the dark forces lurking within. He shares his knowledge of its origins and the eerie effects it has had on players throughout history.
Armed with Samuel's insights, Irene contacts Jacob and Michaela to share the information she has obtained. The siblings realize that the malevolent force behind Polybius is far more dangerous than they had initially anticipated. They understand the urgency of their mission to break the
Poltergeist hold over the players.
Returning to the arcade, Jacob and Michaela face off against the possessed players and the malevolent force within the game. Their Nephalem powers guide them, allowing them to fend off the attacks and weaken the poltergeist's influence.
As the battle reaches its climax, Jacob and Michaela discover a shocking truth. The malevolent force controlling Polybius is none other than its original creator, who has become a powerful poltergeist. He uses the arcade and its players to drain their life force, sustaining his own existence and growing even more powerful and influential.
Realizing the magnitude of the threat, Jacob and Michaela channel their combined Nephalem powers to confront the poltergeist head-on. Their super strength, fast healing, and supernatural senses prove crucial in their battle against the malevolent entity.
The siblings weaken the poltergeist's hold over the players and drain its power. The arcade reverberates with the intensity of their confrontation as they fight to free the entranced players and put an end to the poltergeist's reign.
In a final display of their abilities, Jacob and Michaela unleash a burst of magical energy, severing the poltergeist's connection to the arcade and releasing the entranced players from its grip. The malevolent entity dissipates, its power extinguished.
As the arcade returns to normalcy, Jacob and Michaela, along with Irene, reflect on their hard-fought victory. They understand why the Wayfinder brought them to Portland.
Leaving the Pixel Palace, Jacob, Michaela, and Irene carry the weight of their experiences and the knowledge gained from their encounter with the malevolent poltergeist. They depart from Portland once again behind the wheel of the Wayfinder, ready to face the next challenge and hopefully locate their parents.
