The Benefactor Council

Richard Richardson carefully handpicked a group of twelve loyal members of The Benefactors to form a council. He recognized the need for oversight in The Benefactors' dealings and believed that bringing the organization into the modern era was essential. The council operated separately from The Benefactors, based in a facility on the east coast in New York. Meanwhile, the active Benefactors primarily operated out of San Francisco. The council was entrusted with historical records and magical texts, which they would carefully delegate when important or potentially dangerous information was requested.

Structure

The Council comprised twelve anonymous members of The Benefactors, each possessing equal authority over the organization's operations. They operated on a democratic system, collectively voting on various organizational and operational matters to ensure fair and balanced decision-making. This structure allowed for transparency and representation among the council members, fostering a sense of collaboration and mutual responsibility in shaping The Benefactors' actions and direction.

Culture

The culture within The Council was deeply rooted in principles of loyalty, secrecy, and a shared commitment to their mission. This clandestine organization fostered an environment of trust among its members, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality to protect both the organization and its agents.

Secrecy and Anonymity

Anonymity was a hallmark of The Council's culture. Members of the Council and other operatives operated under aliases or code names, ensuring that their true identities remained concealed. This practice helped shield them from external threats and added an aura of mystery to the organization.

Loyalty and Trust

Loyalty was paramount with The Council, members were carefully chosen based on their unwavering allegiance to the cause and their dedication to protecting humanity from supernatural threats. This bond of loyalty extended throughout the organization, fostering a strong sense of unity and cooperation among its members.

Mastery of Skills

The Council placed great importance on honing their skills, whether in combat, magic, investigation, or research. Agents were encouraged to continually improve their abilities through rigorous training and practice, making them more effective in their roles.

Resourcefulness

The organization's culture celebrated resourcefulness and adaptability. Agents often encountered unpredictable and challenging situations, requiring them to think creatively and find innovative solutions to counter supernatural threats.

Commitment to the Mission

The overarching mission of safeguarding the world from supernatural incursions was the driving force behind every action taken by The Council. This sense of purpose inspired members to persevere even in the face of adversity.

Democratic Decision-Making

The democratic decision-making process within the Council and other key areas of the organization encouraged open discussions and diverse perspectives. This approach ensured that major decisions were carefully considered and reached through consensus.

Code of Conduct

The Council adhered to a strict code of conduct, defining their ethical guidelines and rules of engagement. This code was designed to maintain a balance between defending humanity and avoiding the misuse of their powers or knowledge.

Legacy and Tradition

The Council valued their rich history and traditions, drawing strength from the achievements and wisdom of their predecessors. Ancient texts, magical artifacts, and historical records were preserved and passed down to guide and inform the current generation of operatives.

Assets

In addition to their role in governing The Benefactors' operations, the Council also held oversight over the organization's diverse and extensive assets. While day-to-day operational bookkeeping was delegated to The Benefactors, the Council retained the authority to make decisions concerning significant changes to these assets. This included matters such as acquiring new resources, disposing of existing ones, and making strategic investments to ensure the organization's financial stability and growth. By centralizing asset management under the Council's purview, The Benefactors could maintain a cohesive and efficient approach to their financial affairs.

Disbandment

In a fit of rage over Casey Cameron's induction into The Benefactors, Raahomon Tethlonis launched a vengeful strike against the organization. He directed the formidable SASF to New York, where they executed a deadly assault, eliminating all members of The Council and completely obliterating their facility, along with all the crucial records it housed. This devastating attack sent The Benefactors into a state of disarray, leaving them reeling from the loss of their members and the critical information they guarded.

Laws

One of the council's significant initiatives was adopting a pacifist policy. Shortly after assuming power, they became concerned about the high mortality rate of Benefactor agents. As a result, they implemented a strict "observe and record" policy, shifting the organization's approach from proactive measures against supernatural incursions to focusing predominantly on cleaning up, concealing, and documenting such incidents.
