Half-Elf

Half-elves are the second most populous species in the Shattered Isles after humans. They are generally the result of a relationship between a human and an elf, although they can also come from a union between two half-elves, a human and a half-elf, or an elf and a half-elf.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Most half-elves are at least bilingual in Common and Elven, having been raised in families with human and elven ancestry. Due to the widespread demographic of half-elves across the Shattered Isles, they quite often also speak additional regional dialects unique to where they grew up. For example, half-elves in central Anuan tend towards Eaerdathan as a tertiary language, and those in Solkaddi and the Southern Chains readily speak Akkad. As a whole, half-elves are a race of language lovers and their wide travels and willingness to immerse in new cultures makes them excellent at picking up new tongues, so it is not uncommon to find members of the race who can speak four, five, or even more languages with some degree of fluency.
