Slugs

Coin is an abstract measure of cash and liquid assets. The term is Akorosian slang from the days of the old Imperial treasury, which minted special bank coins of solid gold—each one valuable enough to cover a major transaction. “Flashing a coin” was considered an ostentatious display of wealth. These days, everyone uses small silver pieces for currency, commonly called “slugs” or “scales.” ^{[1]: 42}
