Talisman of Tishina
The Talisman of Tishina is a shell necklace on a leather cord often worn by women, monks, and mutes. They are most commonly seen being worn throughout Southern Andalus and Gholurai. The talisman contains a seashell that is shaped like a trumpet, usually with gradient blue coloring, and has a naturally formed hole for a leather strip to loop through.
The shells are found throughout the cool and temperate ocean and salt water, at shallow and medium depths. They are fragile to pressure and will shatter if they fall to a depth that light cannot penetrate. When the wearer blows into the shell, unlike others of similar shape, it emits no noise. It is believed that blowing into the seashell produces a protective aura around the wearer and throws out a frequency that frightens away any evil or harmful forces.
Adventurers on dangerous quests or passing through treacherous wilds wear the talisman for protection and safety. Some diviners use this seashell before their readings to clear the energy from their space and ground. Some warriors have been known to carry the shell around their neck or tied around their weapon in battle to help see them back home.
History
Significance
Tishina is the Russian word for Silence.
Although the shell is silent to the mortal ear, that does not mean its song goes unheard.
Although the Talismans are not extremely rare or difficult to acquire, they do require time and effort to forage and hang from a leather strip. The farther a person is from the coast does make them more difficult to get.
These are fairly easy to find being sold at markets, however their authenticity can come into question; whether they are the correct type of shell, or if a hole has been drilled after foraging a similar looking shell, to give it the appearance of the talisman
