Geldarc
The Republic of Geldarc is one of the two most populous and powerful of the states in the Kortharc Confederacy.
Population of around 10 million.
Structure
Geldarc is a democratic republic. Every other year, on midsummers day, Geldarc citizens come together to vote for their elected officials. The 2 Consuls are the elected leaders of state in the region. Citizen representatives are drawn from a hat of all Geldarcs citizens, with a quarter of the representatives being drawn 1 person per region, a quarter being drawn with 1 person per protected entity, and half being drawn as at large representatives. The Code of Dragons, Dwarves, and Men, is held as the supreme law of the land.
Culture
Strong segments of society worship the Three Dragons, or Moradan. These segments heavily influence local politics.
The Geldren are holds some of the oldest continually settled cultures in Keyan. These primarily the culture of the Woodlen Dragon, and the Dwarvish Threin Culture. More modern influences from the rest of the confederacy are also felt, as workers came to the north in the recent prospecting boom.
The area's architecture should have a feeling that is both Norse and Incan.
Assets
Geldarc owns many mines and quarries in the high mountains of Northern Kortharc. The mines are among the richest within the proper borders of Kortharc, and bring significant economic power to Geldarc. It is good for Geldarc that it possesses such economic might, for there is a small amount of fertile land in Geldarc.
Agriculture & Industry
The Silver Mines of Geldarc, along with magiflux mines and granite quarries are the industry of Geldarc. There is limited farming in the river regions of Geldarc, and on the Geldarc coast, and significant lumber trading from the river regions.
Trade & Transport
Most trade is made on the rivers to the maximum extent possible, though portages are entirely necessary to send goods in or out of the land. Mountain roads are used to transport people and messages across the region.
Infrastructure
Well maintained mountains roads, aqueducts, granaries, and mountain fortresses.
Geldarc is a large region dominated by high mountains, cold lakes, and boreal forests. Well maintained mountain roads with rope bridges (think incan) allow for much of the tranisportation in the region. Aquaducts of carven stone supply water to a variety of locals in the region, and the morterless mountain castles of smooth stone impose upon the landscape.
