Galan's Cart of Wonders
Galan's Cart of Wonders is a large covered wagon that travels the countryside of Shindus. It is owned and operated by Galan the traveling merchant. Galan is an elderly man and an ex-member of the Creators Guild who buys and sells curious items. Although he is a merchant, he has a strong tendency to buy and horde rather than to sell, although he will still part with them for large amounts of money or as a trade for something more interesting. However, the main way he earns money is instead through performances and shows featuring the items he has collected. In the back of the wagon is one of his favorite treasures that he crafted during his time with the Creator's guild: a wooden board that, when Galan touches it and speaks its command word, unfolds into a small platform stage.
Galan and his Cart of Wonders have become small time celebrities in the rural cities of eastern Shindus. He has a biannual circuit that he makes around the region, so most people know what time of year he will arrive in their village and await his return. This circuit centers around the yearly Winter festival in Tekar, the second larges city in Shindus, dedicated to Tekrulion, the Goddess of the Forsaken. He alternates between the northern and southern half of the region when he passes through Tekar. He's even become so popular that during the last Winter festival he was requested to perform at Lord Bachen's villa, the wealthiest farm owner in Tekar.
Among his most popular wonders are a box that projects an illusory night sky within a small area around it, a small wooden quadruped puppet that walks about on its own, and a wand that fires sparks up into the sky like fireworks.
