The First Pact

The First Pact was an agreement made between the Five Heroes and the Gods of the Pentide that bound the Heroes to serve the will of the Pentide and solidified the position of the representatives on the mortal plane.   According to legends, very little is actually known about the pact. In the darkest hour of the first settlers' journey over the Wailing Peaks, it looked bleak and uncertain whether anyone would survive the harsh winter in the mountain pass. They had largely run out of food and were dying to exposure and hypothermia. In that moment, five of the settlers wandered off from the rest of the party and returned with a bounty of food and the word of the Pentide. From then on, those five settlers were capable of performing miraculous feats, as were all of the subsequent representatives. The blessings offered as a result of the pact had a major impact on the state of the world from then on, as Shindus, the nation founded by the first settlers, thrived and drastically altered the geopolitical landscape of the region thanks to their dominant military power and technological advancement.   Nobody else witnessed the pact being made and, although the representatives frequently refer to the terms set forth in the First Pact as justifications and guiding forces in their actions, they never refer to any parts specifically.    Supposedly, the representatives are told of the terms set forth in the Pact when they have their inaugural dream and meeting with their patron god, but none are willing or able to speak about it beyond stating that they have been told what happened. It is generally acknowledged through analyzing legends and the behavior of the representatives that the first part of the pact is that the representatives will be bound to carry out the will of the Pentide, although the degree to which they are bound is still contested. The second part is that they are not allowed to explicitly disclose the terms of the pact. And the third part, considering the death of Ratsuik and the disappearance of the representatives of Pitelion, is that there are terms set forth in the pact about what happens if the representatives fail to meet the expectations of the Pentide.
