Follow the Light

The Lantern Pendant that Klaern is wearing began to glow and let forth a seemingly endless beam of light that pointed south.   The group gathered supplies and set sail to follow the light.   A few days into their journey they were ambushed in the night by a group of fish-like people that Beacon recognized as the Kuo-Toa
The Kuo-Toa were a mixed batch but were led by magic-wielding priest-like monstrosities who used Arcane Tentacles to push people off the ship and into the Ocean where a massive two-head shark awaited them
However, the Shark was having an off-day and didn't manage to land a single hit and rendered the entire combat moot albeit worth quite a large amount of experience.   The group dispatched of the Shark and Kuo-Toa with relative ease   As the group travelled they were temporarily impeded by a storm   They decided to stop at a remote island until the storm passed   While on the island they were approached by Richard to play a game of Armadillo Ball!   It was a close game but the group prevailed   On the last hit, Gabe hit the ball so hard it caused the ground to collapse revealing a pedestal with Mordenkainen's Compendium   The group continued their journey by ship the next day   After another weeks worth of travel they noticed a thick fog on the horizon   Richard advised the group to get some rest while he and the crew navigate it   As Beacon was in stasis mode he started to hear some thuds followed by screaming   Beacon awoke from stasis to find the crew around him collapsing, their flesh melting from their bones   The pendant around Klaerns neck began to emit a bubble that seemed to prevent the fog from reaching the group, however it became completely immobile while floating in the air   Beacon managed to make it into the cabin and too safety   After which Gabriel locked and blocked the door   Looking out the window of the door the group saw a figure moving slowly towards the door   as the figure moved towards the door they occasional saw another figure takes it place   the new figure began to pound at the window until eventually it placed a bloody hand on the window and collapsed   the secondary figure was Richard   After an excellent usage of spells and provisions the group managed to stave off starvation while the boat drifted into the unknown   Eventually the boat struck land, damaging it severely   The group departed the boat and were ushered by the fog towards a massive gate (Gates of Barovia):
The gate swung open for the group and closed behind the group as they passed through, the fog no longer in pursuit.   After quite some time following the Old Svalich Road the group eventually came across the Village of Barovia
The village was quiet but the group eventually found a tavern (Blood of the Vine Tavern)   Wherein they met Ismark Kolyanovich who requested their assistance in bringing his sister Ireena Kolyana somewhere out of Strahd's reach as Strahd has recently shown interest in Ireena Kolyana
