Personal history

Shar is a member of the Old Gods, brought into existence during Earth's creation. The most commonly held belief as to Shar's creation were that she (and her twin sister Selune, goddess of the moon) was born out of the primordial essence of the universe. Before the universe came to be as the people of Earth know it, it consisted of naught but dim misty shadows, neither light nor dark (for such concepts had yet to separate the raw essence of existence.   Centuries after her creation, Shar was cast out of existence by the Sovereigns of Vol, the immensely powerful beings that came to rule over the supercontinent that made up the Earth prior to the Great Partition. Centuries of their rule passed over, until the people of Vol revolted by bringing the Old Gods back into existence under what came to be known as Khoro's Law: The existence and power of a deity is dictated by the force of belief by those who follow. The people of Vol, wishing to overthrow the current evil rulers of their continent, revived the Old Gods through sheer force of belief. Their battle was the most destructive event in history, splitting Vol into three major continents and finally killing the Sovereigns. Shar was revived after the initial Great Partition, as was common for secondary evil-oriented gods.
