Eruditi

The wandering healers and sages of the Eruditi are a welcome sight where ever they are seen in the Smoking Haven. Much like their god, Golthaarius, they appear without reason throughout the realm of the God Empress, but when they do arrive they bring with them wonder, healing, and magic the likes of which many have never seen.

Structure

The High Cleric of the Eruditi serve as the head of the organization, below them the priests and preacher are not broken down by rank. In fact, the only way to tell the High Cleric apart from the other faithful is to ask one of them. There is no hierarchy and the High Cleric is the person with the most understanding of Golthaarius at a given time. This leads to times when there are several High Clerics of different aspects of their god. At other times there in one High Cleric who is recognized by the Eruditi to have the most direct connection to Golthaarius of any in their order. Still other times their is only believed to be one High Cleric but the name given will be different when different members of the faithful are asked.

Culture

They have no churches or temples and no town or city where the order is based. Much like the god they worship the Eruditi are wandering healers, teachers, craftsmen, and mages. They go where they are needed in the Smoking Haven and offer no judgment when rendering their services. They take only what they need to survive and help those in need and to turn one away from your door in an act of the highest dishonour.

Mythology & Lore

Many of the Eruditi value the skills of the healer and craftsmen above all others and strive to embody these aspects of their Golthaarius as much as they can. This steams from the major contributions of Golthaarius to the mythological cannon of the Smoking Havens. Golthaarius is said to have sprang from the blood of the God Empress and tended to her wounds before stating his name. He made the God Empress's golden hand in the same breath as a first gift the the Heavenly Matron and later crafter the chain she throw over the neck of Salathiir. It is also from these myths that the precedent of the Eruditi helping others without question or want to wealth flows as Golthaarius never seeks repainment and serves others without question or worry for himself.

Divine Origins

The Eruditi like all of the major cults of the Smoking Haven can link their origins to the Exodus and the first peoples to come to the Smoking Haven. They where those who served a healers and often wandered the new land in search of those in need of help. From their practice as wandering healers they naturally followed Golthaarius and soon became a cult into and of themselves.
