Filii Fati

The priests of Vanadon-Necroth travel the Smoking Haven caring for the dead and their families. Many think that these priests are omens of death themselves due to their god's association with prophecy and fate.

Structure

The Princeps Mortisian is the head of the faith and the guardian of the gates to Beatha an Nathair. They stand before the Dark Arch at Hane and prevent those not yet ready or worthy from entering it. The priests and preachers on Vanadon-Necroth travel to or serve in towns and cities as the overseers of death and the speakers of prophecy. It is believed that these faithful speak with the voice of the Princeps Mortisian who, in turn, speaks with the voice of Vanadon-Necroth.

Culture

The Filii Fati are ruled by protocol and have no families or ties to any but their god. The followers of Vanadon-Necroth give themselves to her as she did to the now forgotten goddess of death. They have also learned from the folly of their goddess however and become dead when they join the order. Though this death is a symbolic one the Filii Fati are issued official death certificates and can no longer own lands, marry, or preform any other legal or civil duties of the living.

Mythology & Lore

The Filii Fati never deviate from the path before then and can never turn their back on their goddess. This stems from the finality of death to Vanadon-Necroth and her own fanatical devotion to her goddess during her mortal life; Vanadon-Necroth now demands nothing less from her own followers. An even stronger teaching to the Filii fati however, is to not look to the past but the future. As followers to the goddess of death and prophecy, much more value is placed in what is ahead of a person then behind them.

Divine Origins

The Filii Fati formed around Vanadon-Necorth at the time of the Exodus to guard the Dark Arch at Hane. From their humble beginnings as little more then town guards they grow into the strange and distrusted organization they are today.
