Breaching pods

Used by all factions of the military and paramilitary, breaching pods are a type of Dropship used to deploy boarding forces quickly onto hostile ships and stations. While the United Nations Navy and the Martian Congressional Republic Navy can afford to have officially-made breaching pods, the The Outer Planets Alliance typically makes their own from converted shipping containers with grapplers and a thruster engine.
That being said, breaching pods are essentially glorified tin cans with a bomb on the end, and are highly vulnerable to incoming fire. They are typically only launched when within very close range, or when the escort ships are more than able to provide protective cover.
