Xiahou "Xi" Khatri

Xiahou "Xi" Khatri, aged 38 years old, was born in the Anhui region of the UN Asian Shared Interest Zone. Named for legendary warrior Xiahou Dun – who to this day Xi swears he is descended from – Xi takes pride in his combat and leadership expertise. Growing up a military brat, Xi enlisted in the United Nations Navy as soon as he was able, and quickly moved up the ranks. He was soon transferred over to the elite United Nations Marine Corps when it became clear he was adept with multiple types of weapons, as well as hand-to-hand combat. Xiahou’s physical prowess and large stature often gets him confused for being a Martian Marine. While he used to resent being confused for a Martian (dirty dusters he used to call them), he eventually was able to see the complement in it, even if it is backhanded. Xi became fairly well known in the UNMC when, at 28, he became one of the youngest gunnery sergeants in the military’s history and found himself leader of a battalion of nearly 1000 soldiers. While efficient in his leadership, he personally missed “being in the shit” and was known for getting involved with Platoons as small as 15-20. He could be found leading his men on elite training exercises testing out advanced technology for the UNN, including their David Power Armor (so named for their sole purpose of combating the Martian Goliath Power Armor Unfortunately, this intimacy with his troops also had some downsides – Xiahou was tough but cared very much for those under his watch. During a military excursion rooting out some Belter terrorists trying to assassinate UN Undersecretary Sadavir Errenwright Xi and his squad fell behind trying to protect one of their wounded soldiers and were caught in an ambush. The resulting explosion killed several of his men, and the shrapnel took out Xi’s eye. Xi was severely affected by this incident and refused to get a new eye grown saying “I was so distracted by what was behind me, I couldn’t see what was in front of me”. He instead retired from the military after his duty was over, and instead got a cybernetic eye implanted. His eye can be used to access his terminal to look up information and record what he’s seeing, but even with his military pay, he couldn’t afford any major upgrades to it. After his time in the military, Xi decided to use his skills and got into working security details. Now nearly in his 40s, he has been able to move on from his past and has matured from his hotheadedness as a youth but he still is fiercely protective of his team and will be damned if he lets anything happen to them again. If you’re on his side, he’s a great leader, and a trustworthy ally. But god be with anyone who crosses him or his crew.
