Nineteen-tailed Kitsune

"Hello!"   "What? You thought I was really a beast person fox? That's funny!"   "What are you then?"   "Now, now that would be telling."
Nineteen-tailed Kitsuné was waiting for Falling. He had to bring back the cat, it needed some medicine. That's what the legend was. They were lying to him. His thoughts were going in circles.   "Hey Falling."   "Hey Kit." Kitsuné, as most of the bureau called her, except for Breeze and Falling, was the unofficial den mother, and had been a famous doctor and veterinarian. She'd had torrid affairs with the two exceptions, who called her kit. Well, 'had' with Falling, off-and-on with breeze was probably more accurate, which made it a little awkward.   "How's Mister Puss?"   "He's as pissy as ever, I swear, why did you saddle me with a cat that hates my guts?"   "He doesn't hate your guts, see, he's so well behaved."   "Only when you're around!"   "Aw, you just haven't shown him as much of your winning personality as you've shown me." She dimpled.   "Ahem, well I did show you everything."   "Falling!" She was pinching herself not to laugh. "Behave!"   "Well, I did!"   "You did, but behave."   "Aw, come on."   "Behave, I said, we're here for your cat, not for... that. Besides, I hear someone from your past just showed up again?"   "What, Mindless Lunacy?"   "Is that her name? You don't call her that, not in your mind..."   "Damn, you've been prying, but yeah, I call her Devil Dancing in the pale moonlight."   "I'm surprised they haven't asked me to take... an interest."   "Why?"   "I hear the wyld left a mark on her, a deep one."   "Do they always do so?"   "Hmm, that's a good point, they didn't ask me my opinion on Love Conquers All, either."   "Well, she is a Chosen of Venus, maybe she doesn't need the help?"   "If you believe that, you don't understand anything, Falling. Everyone needs an ear to listen to, from time to time."   "Maybe they asked someone else from Venus then?"   "If they asked Talonmaster, heaven help her, Sophia's too busy to take new cases, and same with Lack of Chemistry."   "Do you get help from anyone else?"   "The Lunars are all tapped now, I think some of Heaven's Dragons could be tapped, but like only four of the forty or so."   "What about the gods?"   "They'd have to be read into the convention, that's not happening. A god would be as dangerous as an exalt, maybe more."   "What about the incarnae themselves, do we have a plan for that?"   "What? A plan to deal with a rogue Incarnae, when they can reshape worlds by snapping their fingers?"   "Well, if I remember, the convention got started because of Balor, who was a fair one, and the more so, he almost beat Ignis Divine in a fair fight. Clearly, that's the level of power we're going for?"   "No, at least, not necessarily. He knew so much about Ignis Divine and his weaknesses that he struck much harder than his actual weight class... That's why we're insisting on so much secrecy, we're worried someone might take Balor's plan, but having learned Luna and the Maiden's weaknesses as well..."
