Darien James, a member of the school’s track team, is the cocky, mean, and annoyingly-confident school bully who enjoys picking on Quinn McAlester for behaving effeminately. He has a small following of two insecure friends (Tony and Kyle) who follow him around and laugh at others when he puts them down.

At some point in Book 5, Balance of Power, Victor Kraze of The Order woos Darien and the unsuspecting youth agrees to begin training to prepare himself for orgone infusion so that he can "beat the shit out of Quinn."
