The Genesis hatched from the End

And the apocalypse that followed

What you're about to listen to is no ordinary study. It is a work of several cycles, the result of the trials and sacrifices of one person, Akllarelsllh, who was willing to give up on everything to uncover the truth lies deep down. The truth about our demise and our rebirth. But be wary: such knowledge is dangerous for the lesser mind, and only the enlightened one may bear this burden. For you have been warned, let us proceed.
— Introduction of The Genesis hatched from the End

What happened that was so horrendous that it put an end to an entire world? For a long time, this question was merely a philosophical and theological one. The archives of the past were so sparse no deep investigation was ever tried. That is, until Rationalist Akllarelsllh decided to take on this daunting task and chase the past.

A scholar's journey

When Akllarelsllh first suggested his project, he was still a young scholar with everything to prove, and many laughed at him. Every fool that tried before failed and gave up quickly. But none had the persistence of the young historian, nor his will to do anything it takes. He visited many ancient Spheres and Memories, seeking clues of the origin.

Frustrated by all the dead ends he met along his journey, he finally met someone who shared the same quest. The fellow Obloggian nicknamed himself the Seeker, and he led a crew of a dozen people to unveil what happened for the ancient civilisation to disappear. He was able to break into places Akllarelsllh couldn't even approach. Their goals were the same, thus the Seeker offered the scholar to join him, and he accepted out of desesperation. It was a one-way trip to the other side of the laws, one that could strike him off the Obloggian Reef. But a success would skyrocket his carrier, and this simple thought was enough for him to take the risk.

And just like that, Akllarelsllh became the first and only non-Seeker allowed aboard Anhvall. He ventured with them for a couple Obloggian cycles, unravelled many mysteries and eventually managed to find an answer. The time spent together brought the Seeker's crew and the scholar close, to the point he came to be among The Ones who found. This adventure left him with a bittersweet taste, paying a heavy price to gain the answer he was longing for all his life.

Back in Oblogga, he went in seclusion for a whole cycle, gathering in words his experience with the group that started to call themselves the Seekers. From the two works that came out of it, one was quickly buried under the influence of the Hollene lineage, and the other was titled The Genesis hatched from the End

The different cults can't be wrong, for they base their claims on beliefs. But as I followed the path of proofs, my work is the true record of reality and history.

Eventful publication

The study was recorded on organic speech bubbles, and shared only to the spheriers and Council of Oblogga as per the custom for studies of this scale. It was approved only by a tight majority, the most religious lineages opposing fiercely. Truth be told, it was only approved because of the manoeuvres of the Hollene lineage to censor the other submitted work, Seeking the remnants: an adventure across the deep Expanse and purge every mention of Anhvall. They didn't want the other one to be published either, but they tangled themselves in a political imbroglio, and eventually allowed its publication.

The speech bubble was then sent to the Reef, where it caused a massive uproar. If the Council merely looked at the political repercussion of the bubble, the Reef saw the scientific and historical revolution it was. Most of the historical treaties were rewritten, some distinguished professor lost their seat, and a couple even committed suicide. Even before the mass production of the speech bubble, Akllarelsllh was given the fifth seat. Disregarding the voices of moderation - or jealousy -, the Reef decided to produce two hundred speech bubbles of the study for Oblogga, and five hundred to be spread through the Expanse. Such a large scale production was a first. Only Bolllni's spheres were more numerous, and it reached a thousand copies four Oppollln cycles after its creation.

Disturbing truth

As it turned out, such grand revelation wasn't meant for the lesser minds. What lineage heads, spheriers and Reef members failed to realize was that the knowledge contained in The Genesis hatched from the End was a deadly curse to those who weren't fit to hear it. The effect of the publication on the main public was devastating. The speech bubbles written in the Obloggian dialect burned the mind of the people, and three hundred died before the diffusion of the study was literally smashed on the ground. It appeared after a while that over a thousand people died on other Spheres following the spread of the study.

Far from putting Akllarelsllh in trouble, this horrible news became an even greater springboard to the third seat and an invitation to the Oppollln's Reef he declined. The event was truly terrible, but no one had to take the guilt. Instead, a brand new perspective was taken on the work. Wave-based warfare was deemed too dangerous since it could harm the integrity of the Sphere's membrane. But using a non-harmful wave, able to drive soldiers mad without damaging their mount, wasn't even thought of.

What used to be a grand revelation of the origin of the civilisation was then considered the greatest weapon ever designed, one that couldn't bring harm to higher minds, something close to the perfect war device.

Speech bubbles

The thesis is recorded, like any scientific work, on speech bubbles. These devices, designed by Bolllni, are actually balls of Sphere flesh or another materiel arranged precisely and covered with small shellfishes. Unitone is often used to encode the message to be recorded. Then, the speech bubble loop the message endlessly for at least two Oppollln cycles before showing signs of malfunctions and errors. Different kinds of speech bubbles exist, based on the material they were built with. Sphere flesh is the most common and durable by far, but also require a long time to be written and increase a lot with the message's length. Bone bubbles are most of the time long and pierced with small holes and use a water current to deliver their message. They can't contain a very long speech but have the advantage of not shouting it at all times. Finally, gas bubbles are the most expensive and ephemeral but provide an experience like none other with the message and a whole new realm of sensation.

Mind the hierarchy

Mind can be considered as the mental power of an individual, the ability to resist or impose their will on others. It is correlated but not directly linked with intelligence. An excellent spherier may have a very high mind, but that doesn't prevent them to be a complete moron. It can be innate or develop through hardships, Hence why the people in the higher positions tend to have higher minds than the common folks.

Everything you've just heard is the truth in its purest form, without alteration or omission. How devastating it may be, it is the result of cycles of research and adventure. But if I am proven wrong at any point in the future, I will be the first to rejoice. For a long time have I chased the truth, I only wish it was different.
— Last words from The Genesis hatched from the End

Twisted legacy

Although it is theoretically possible to transcribe The Genesis hatched from the End in a softer way, it is strictly forbidden to do so. Knowing the content of the study would greatly reduce its lethal power, if not completely negate them. Even Akllarelsllh tried to publish a revised version, following his original goal to spread the truth to the greater masses, using his influence as the new holder of the second seat. But he was completely ignored and risked his seat in the process. He was willing to put even his life on the line to publish his new version and was close to succeeding. Yet even the most influential Reef member can't go alone against the unanimous Council, and he gave up in the end, reduced to small studies and impossible questions.

The Obloggian Perspective

This is the pinnacle of Obloggian power, albeit most of us haven't set eyes on a Genesis' bubble, as we call them. Not only does this prove we got the cleverest scientists, but also the most advanced army. In the harshest Obloggian courses, it is now used as a hard lock to sort the higher and lesser minds. Spheriers and Reef candidates have to listen to the whole work just to qualify for the other tests. Sure, it's a bit frightening to know that even pure knowledge can hurt or kill us, more so with the Revealer going wild, but our Sphere has the highest proportion of survivors. Another proof of the superiority of the Obloggian mind!

Very fascinating story and use of knowledge :D I guess us poor human don't have the mental fortitude to hear the truth? :p

Thank you! I kept the content secret because this truth will be a major plot point in the novel I aim to write in this world. Would be a shame to spoil it :p
