Session 12 - Troll Trouble
General Summary
Time has advanced to the 4th of Gozran. Gentle rains and scornful gales have blessed us.
Leaving the remains of Nettle's crossing our heroes were exploring some parts of the plains they missed when they were approached by a mangy looking Dog that appeared to be in distress. After following the dog they came upon a unconscious man clinging on to the last threads of life. As the heroes began to investigate the person they heard rumbling and loud shouting in the distance. Refusing to leave the man to an unfortunate fate, the heroes take up positions while Enir scouts ahead.
Eventually crashing through the underbrush was a very large Troll carrying a sack and wearing a unique pair of blue bracers. Talking to nobody in particular, it shouted a word of thanks and a promise to eat them last in Jotun. Not one to let this slide, Strongarm shouted back that he would be the one to eat him. After a hot headed shouting match between the two, the combat started off with Strongarm charing forward to make the first blow. The troll, after taking a hook to the jaw, was unimpressed and returned with a salvo of claws that ended with a bloody flourish that rent Strongarm's chest asunder. The heroes had a sobering moment that this was no bandit, sootscale, or mitflit they were dealing with.
After making a wish, the troll surged forward confident his claws and regeneration would keep him alive. However the heroes thought on their feet and quickly roused the unconscious man. The man stood and shouted information regarding how to disable the regeneration of the bemused troll.
Though the battle was bloody, with the troll rending everything that came in close, the haphazard tactics the heroes threw together worked, with the troll melting just after cleaving into Beatrice's shoulder. Catching their breath, the troll began to stir which prompted a panicked, yet justified execution from the remaining conscious combatants. The man introduced himself as Ekundayo, a giant hunter who was hunting members of Gragglebeard's Reavers before being attacked. Since his trail has gone cold, Ekundayo was at a lost for what to do next before being told about Oleg's Trading Post to the north. The heroes set off.
Two days later the heroes arrive at the trading post and begin working on housekeeping. The first order of business was to relay information to Kesten Garess regarding the Sootscale pacification and how they were living in a silver mine. Kesten, being relegated to Trading post defense, states he will pen a letter to the Swordlords. The next was to unnerve the man by relaying the story of the Reavers and the aspect of vengence haunting Nettle's crossing. Kesten, being relegated to Trading post defense, states he will pen a letter to the Swordlords, but this time in a worried voice. The final order of business was to resolve the quest of the elusive ring by finally returning it to Oleg. Oleg, the happiest he has been since meeting him, redeclared his love for Svetlana before carrying her off to the office.
