Lunalupis Castle

Lunalupis castle is the home and office of Werewoof, the pack leader of the Unified Fang Canizen superpack. It was built by the Stonepaw and Treefaller packs as a gift to Werewoof. It sits on a lone plateau about twenty meters high in the middle of a grassy plain, and can be seen from dozens of kilometers in all directions.

Purpose / Function

Lunalupis castle was built for Werewoof to be his home and his center of power, and to serve as a symbol of unity among the packs that make up the Unified Fang superpack.

Alterations

The superpack had some territorial disputes with some of their neighbors. An expanding Novarahn city started using force to claim land, and escalated to a missile attack against the castle. Damage was minimal as the intention was intimidation. It had the opposite effect, and the superpack went to war and eventually won. At the onset of the war, a shied generator was installed in the castle. Its protective bubble covers all the buildings and the exterior walls. The generator was originally part of a small luxury star ship, which accounts for its longevity but means it is less powerful than one made for a larger ship and/or a combat vessel. A sensor net extending ten kilometers with redundancies was put in place, as well as a vehicle detection scanner with a range of two hundred kilometers. The sensors are linked to a computer designed for target identification and to automated defensive weapons.

Architecture

The castle has an outer stone wall of black granite about sixty meters high with wooden ramparts and tall flagpoles evenly spaced around it. Each flagpole flies a very large flag representing one of the individual packs in the superpack. The main gate is ten meters tall and each of the two dark wooden doors is four meters wide and a meter thick. Despite their weight, the doors are so precisely balanced that they can be opened and closed by a single strong Canizen if the powered opening mechanism were to fail. Inside the wall there are several buildings made of stone and wood. There is a garage, a storage building, and other utility buildings. More importantly, there are some key buildings of government. The Alpha Meeting Hall is where the leaders of the individual packs hold regular meetings with each other and Werewoof. There is an archive and comms building which acts as a communications hub between the individual packs and holds all of the pack's documents. The central building is the great hall, a triangular structure around thirty meters high. The corners have towers that are another thirty meters tall, and there is a wider central tower that is fifty meters tall. The central tower is topped with a forty meter flag pole with a massive Unified Fang flag. The exterior and load-bearing walls of the hall are made of the same black granite, with wooden floors and walls.

History

Lunalupis Castle was built by the Stonepaw and Treefaller packs as a gift to Werewoof. They wanted to show their new leader their appreciation of his unification of the different Canizen packs in the region. Those two packs had been superior builders to the other packs, but were inferior combatants and had fewer warriors. This made it easy for the other packs to extort, bully, and rob them. In the superpack, however, they are valued and respected. The construction took almost two years despite being built with the best technology available. The reasons it took so long are mostly because of the scale of the project and the quality and attention to detail of the craftsmanship, but the relatively small number of builders also played a part.
