Saint Miriam the Lightbringer
Lightbringer Miriam
Miriam the Lightbringer is one of the most prominent saints in the mythology of the Akregian Church, revered for her wisdom and guidance to those in need. Most often she is called on by people who face a moral dilemma, or those who must make a difficult decision. She is called the Guiding Light in some circles, though her official title of Lightbringer is the only one recognized by the Church at large.

Personal history
Little is known of Miriam's life before she entered the church, though some key details have survived. For instance, we know her father was a soldier in the imperial army and died when she was very young. She was then raised by the church as her mother could not afford to care for her alone. Scriptures cite several instances in which she acted as a spiritual guide even at a young age, including one particularly famous story in which the High Priest herself asked Miriam's advice on an increasingly complex series of moral quandaries. After giving a short and insightful answer to each question, Miriam was taken on as the High Priest's ward.
After serving as the High Priest's adviser for nearly a decade, Miriam left the Capitol on a personal quest, travelling from town to town granting guidance and counsel to those who needed it. After walking the empire for nearly a year, she was confronted by Moriah, dark witch of secrets, and forced to contend with her evil magic. While she was ultimately successful in defeating the witch, Miriam suffered a grievous wound and would have died before the end of the day had the Dragons not intervened and ascended her to sainthood.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Prior to her battle with Moriah, Miriam performed several deeds that have been recorded in the scriptures. In one city, she is said to have resolved a generations-long feud between the two ruling families by delivering a single sermon; in another, she vanquished a shadow demon that was plaguing the townsfolk and was later revealed to be a servant of Moriah herself.
