The Revelry
When a gnome reaches their fourth century,
Causes
Symptoms
When the Revelry comes over a gnome, they exhibit behaviors typically associated with drunkenness. Lowered inhibitions, euphoria, and slowed reflexes/ poor coordination are all common.
Treatment
Revelry is a form of senility, and as such has no real cure or treatment. Rather, gnomes who have slipped into Revelry are housed and cared for in collective homes colloquially referred to as Party Houses or Houses of Revelry.
Prevention
Common gnomish wisdom cites that the Revelry will come only when a gnome is ready for it; those who still look forward to a hard day's work will be spared until they are ready to "retire" to the Revelry.
Cultural Reception
While most races dread the idea of losing oneself senility, gnomish culture views the Revelry as the natural end-state to a long life full of hard work.
The Contemplation
In extremely rare cases, instead of the Revelry, a condition referred to as the Contemplation manifests instead. This condition is much less known due to its rarity, but the few recorded cases are nearly identical in symptoms. Even the most active and outgoing gnome will become extremely introverted and will cease to respond to all but the most pressing external stimulus. They will respond to conversation, but in very short statements that have little to do with the conversation at hand.
