Shoenonh (show-in-on)
Shoenohn (Sho-en-on) (lit. 'sand of life') is a kingdom located in the western regions of the Nohnenmanatajaie (lit. "Depth of Solitude"). It encompasses the lands around and between the three great rivers that flow southward from the Eailtionh (lit. "mirror/reflecting water gives life") mountain range and empty out into the sea called Penoittenerefi (lit. "the gods shall carry us") by the peoples of Shoenohn. From west to east, the three rivers are named: Eiero Sharesaboten (lit. "River teaches us"), Memahte Mun Tenu (lit. "before-time remains now") Arketiohn (lit. "Rivers gives life")
Eiero Sharesaboten is the longest river in the world and is predominately inhabited by Phoenix Born and halflings. The capitol of Shoenohn is currently situated at the mouth of the Eiero Sharesaboten river delta, though in previously dynasties of rulers it had been located near the Eailtiohn mountains. The kingdom of Eiero Sharesaboten has lasted for 23 dynasties, and is currently ruled by the 7th pharaoh in the current royal family's line.
Memahte Mun Tenu, as it is eulogistically called today, dried up during the Sundering, leaving behind a series of oases that serve as the only remnants of its path. It was predominately inhabited by halflings, who fled to the other two rivers in the aftermath of the Sundering. While some halflings yet remain amongst the oases of Memahte Mun Tenu, the path of the former river has become home to outcasts from either of the adjacent river kingdoms, making the region even more dangerous to traverse. The former kingdom along this river lasted for 15 dynasties.
Arketiohn is home to the Arkite, a species of crocodile-like humanoids, who settled along the banks of the river. The Arkites can be found dispersed through the entirety of the water, while a sizable halfling population inhabits its river delta. The kingdom of Arketiohn is currently on its 19th dynasty of rulers, this dynasty beginning with the joining of the previous dynasty's family with that of the current royal line of Eiero Sharesaboten.
Structure
The social structure of Shoenohn was established during the first dynasties that ruled over the great rivers, and has since endured for nearly two millennia. While the social hierarchy has historically been strict with little to no social mobility, the establishment of the Joint Kingdoms of Shoenonh by Tehena I saw a loosening of the hierarchy to allow for more upward mobility, though this refrain from millennia-long tradition serves as a primary critique of the current dynasty, a critique primarily expressed by the noble class.
