Ystcepa (ustkeɪpɛ)

Stormwright

Ystcepa (ewst-cape-eh) is the god of craftsman, sailing, storms and trade in the Brymtuscan Pantheon. He is often depicted as a shipwright with kelp-like hair and lightning pulsing through his veins at work on the keel of a ship.   Shrines dedicated to Ystcepa are located in shipyards, while statues made in his image can be found throughout ports and other settlements along the coast. While statues of the god are looked upon with religious reverence, these depictions do not constitute what Ystcepan followers consider to be temples or shrines. True shrines to Ystcepa can be found near the entrance to a shipyard, whereat visiting followers of the god, workers at the shipyard, and passing sailors and merchants offer up wood, metal, rope, cloth, tools, and other construction materials to the priests of Ystcepan attending to the site. The priests use these donated materials to construct a consecrated ship. When the ship is finished, a holy day is declared to serve as the day of the ship's launch, and the vessel makes its first voyage. These ships are what Ystcepans view as their temples.

Holidays

Keel Day

Keel day is a holiday during which shipwrights begin the long process of building a ship by laying down the keel. There is no set day during the year at which this holy day takes place, as it occurs whenever a shipwright decides. Followers of Ystcepa who endeavor to start construction will announce the event to a priest in the weeks prior to the ceremony.

Voyage Day

Voyage day, like keel day is a variably dated holiday commemorating the completion of a ship and its first voyage. Priests of Ystcepa carry out a ceremony to bless the ship by praying for Ystcepa to guide the ship's voyage
