The Sunless Realms

Hundreds of years ago, a group of wizards known as “The Eternal Court” sought to extend their lives and the lives of all mortals to match the unaging lives of the mystical elves. Through a pact with a fiend of the infinite abyss, they along with their armies opened their way to Grendina, the realm of elves. The first step they made corrupted the realm. For they brought an aspect foreign to the creatures who lived within the realm….   …They brought mortality and death.   The realm twisted into a vile form of itself, and undeath was born. They siphoned the life force of the elven lords and were granted the eternal life they desired. Though this came in the form the terrible curse of Vampirism. With new found thirst for conquest, the elven nation fell and scattered to the dense woods. The armies that partook in the sacking of Grendina were among the first to join the ranks of the night creatures. Returning from their conquest The Eternal Court sought to expand their gift to bordering nations, those who opposed were killed or enslaved to feed their night citizens. Their influence and armies spread so vast, the remaining nations fled the continent, leaving behind the hidden dwarves of Tara'Ghrad and the shattered elves of Grendina.   Generations have past and the human nations have returned in force to reclaim their lost land, as new ships from the west delivering soldiers, treasure hunters, pillgrams alike, humanity has gained a foot hold on the land with the Fort-City Drest'heim. Reestablishing alliances with the Elves and Dwarves of the land, they march once again against the creatures of the night, hoping to bring light to the Sunless Realms.
