Alexia Nester is the human adopted daughter of the halfling Gellan Primewater.
Alexia's father, her sole parents, died in 1490. While Alexia was told that her father died in a shipping accident, in truth he was a smuggler who died while on a mission for Gellan. Feeling guilt upon seeing the orphaned Alexia, Gellan took her in, showering her with wealth and gifts, though the naturally shy and bookish Alexia often didn't know how to react to these gifts.
While Alexia knows that Gellan cares for her and she does care for him, their ways of showing affection are pretty incompatable.
On Alexia's 13th birthday in 1496, Gellan threw a fair for the entire town, full of exotic vendors and performers. The Heroes of Saltmarsh found Alexia reading and staying out of sight in her usual hidey hole, a space between the roof and ceiling of the Saltmarsh town hall that Alexia fills with books and other items. At Gellan's request, the Heroes accompanied Alexia to help her have a fun birthday.
It was also from that hidey hole that Alexia witnessed a sahuagin raid that captured multiple Marshers as slaves a month later, which she reported to the Heroes.
