Sir Isteval is a retired Purple Dragon Knight that represented Daggerford on the Council of Waterdeep during the Great Dragon War.
History
Sir Isteval was born in 1432 in Cormyr. He spent the majority of his life in serving in Cormyr's military, eventually rising in rank to become one of the esteemed Purple Dragon Knights and served with distinction. Isteval retired sometime prior to 1492 and moved to Daggerford, where he befriended the city's leadership. During the Great Dragon War, Isteval was chosen to represent Daggerford on the Council of Waterdeep, a task which he saw as a great honor. However, his previous affiliation to Cormyr drew scrutiny from other members of the council, including from Lord Protector Dagult Neverember and Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard. The Breadwinners spoke on Isteval's defense, soothing the worries of the other council members. Isteval later repayed the Breadwinners for their aid by teaching Mariana Goldfinch more in the ways of dragon slaying and gifting her a halberd of dragon slaying, gifts that would help the young noble immensely when she founded her own dragon slaying company. Isteval led Daggerford's forces during the Battle of Hardbuckler and the Battle at the Well of Dragons, though the retired knight mostly commanded from rear. After the Great Dragon War, Isteval returned to his home of Daggerford, intent on retiring for good.
