Kenku

Kenku are a species of crow-like humanoids that were created as a result of a curse centuries ago. The curse renders kenku both unable to fly and unable to speak any words naturally. Instead, kenku are experts of mimicry, able to perfectly repeat any words or phrases they say.
While individual kenku enjoy growing their collection of mimiced words and phrases, kenku communities often share with one another particularly enjoyed phrases or sounds. Whenever a kenku finds a particular phrasing of a word that resonants so deeply with that word's true understanding, it is often codified in kenku communities as the definitive way to say that word or phrase. Outsiders generally refer to these generationally shared phrases or words as the "word of the foreflock."
