River Styx

The River Styx is the a intra-planar river that flows through and connects the lower planes, including the Nine Hells, the Abyss, and more.

Geography

The River Styx is a deep, harsh river. Its waters are a dark maroon, often likened to a dark red wine, but its consistency is greasy and oily.
Following the River Styx is also one of the only ways for one to naturally travel across multiple planes without the need of teleportation magic, but doing so was risky, as both the waters and the shores of the Styx attracted creatures of great danger.

Localized Phenomena

Most notable about the Styx was the magical affects of its water. Merely touching the water of the Styx was enough to erase vast portions of an individual's memory, and even thr strong willed could find whole days missing from a drop.
Those that were more fully submerged would find themselves a clean slate, with no memory of even their own name nor how they arrived at the banks of the river.
Powerful spells, such as heal or wish could undo the effects of the Stygian waters, but for the vast majority of creatures exposed to it, there was no recourse.
