Umberlee is the chaotic evil godess of the sea on Faerun. Known for her wild changes in disposition and dispassion for life, she is nonetheless worshipped by many coastal people hoping to appease her to keep themselves safe.

Umberlee often clashed with Valkur, the minor god of sailors, as Umberlee generally viewed boats and ships on the ocean as personal grievances. This is why sailors and coastal settlements often prayed to Umberlee, in the hope that she would overlook their offence
